Adult acne in Incheon, why does it keep coming back after twenty?

Adult acne is often less about how much oil you make and more about the conditions that keep repeating. If breakouts appear on the jawline and around the mouth, before your period or in a tiring week, changing your cleanser alone rarely ends them. The basic approach is to calm the pimples you have now with extraction and soothing care, and at the same time work on what keeps bringing them back: your cycle, sleep, digestion and heat in the body.

Why does adult acne happen?

Acne starts when a pore opening is blocked, oil collects (a comedone), and inflammation spreads inside it. What makes adult acne different from teenage acne is that it clearly follows a pattern of when and where.

Four types of adult acne in Korean medicine

TypeWhat it looks like · Treatment direction
Heat risingRed, hot, forehead and cheeks, dry mouth, constipation · Clear the heat that has moved upward
Damp-heatOily, pus forms easily, worse after alcohol or greasy food · Clear dampness and heat together
Irregular cycleJawline, worse before periods, irregular periods · Even out the cycle
Long-standingHard, deep nodules, marks that last, years of repeats · Break up stagnation and help circulation

If antibiotics or isotretinoin are hard for you

Antibiotics, isotretinoin and topical creams are strong at reducing inflammation quickly. Even so, many people come to us because they cannot take these medicines, or because the acne returns as soon as they stop. Isotretinoin dries the skin and lips, needs blood tests during treatment, and pregnancy must be avoided while taking it and for a month after, so it is difficult for anyone planning a pregnancy. Long courses of antibiotics can upset the stomach, and acne often comes back in the same places afterwards.

For these patients we do two things at once, without acne medication:

Acne treatment at Hoo Korean Medicine Clinic Incheon

Acne extraction care

Unripe spots are left alone; only what is ready that day is extracted gently. Afterwards, anti-inflammatory pharmacopuncture and soothing care reduce redness and heat.

AGNES

An insulated micro-needle targets the oil gland under inflamed acne that keeps returning to the same spot.

PDT

A light treatment after an ampoule is applied, for skin with a lot of oil and acne bacteria.

Herbal medicine

Prescribed for the pattern behind repeated acne, looking at your cycle, sleep and digestion.

Scars after acne

Depressed scars are treated separately. See acne scars.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q.Does adult acne go away on its own?

Less often than teenage acne. If the conditions that trigger it, such as your cycle or lack of sleep, stay the same, it tends to keep appearing in the same place, so it usually needs care.

Q.Is it really bad to squeeze pimples at home?

Squeezing an unripe pimple pushes the inflammation deeper, which is the most common reason for marks and scars. If you cannot tell whether it is ready, professional extraction is safer.

Q.Can I have treatment here while taking acne medication?

Yes. Tell us the name of the medicine and how long you have taken it, and we will plan around it.

Q.How long do I need to take herbal medicine for acne?

We usually review progress every one to two months and adjust. The length depends on how severe the acne is and on your constitution.

Q.How often should I get acne extraction?

Usually every one to two weeks, depending on how inflamed the skin is. Spots that are not ready are checked again at the next visit.

Q.How much does acne treatment cost?

As of October 2026, acne extraction care is 99,000 KRW per session or 270,000 KRW for three sessions. Longer programs are priced on the clinic website, and we explain the total before you start.
